Overview

The Grand Cook is a Brooklyn-based catering and events company, with a focus on delicious, seasonal, and fresh ingredients. Our events range from small dinner parties, corporate lunches, cocktail events, to weddings.

We are seeking an Event Coordinator to join our small, yet expanding team!

The ideal candidate is highly organized, cares deeply about hospitality, and is excited to help shape and cultivate a growing company. We’re looking for people that lead with warmth and intention in all that they do, and are extremely detail-oriented people who take pride in their work.

The Event Coordinator will work directly with the Culinary Team and the Operations team, ensuring a seamless execution for every event they are managing. This includes coordinating event details from client communication, preparing event documents, managing timelines, and overseeing onsite staff.

Position

  • Event Production
    • Participate in site visits/venue walk throughs
    • Manage communication between the client and Culinary team
    • Ensure events are properly staffed and prepared for
    • Lead Staff and Captain’s meetings before events to ensure a seamless event
    • Build out Event Books/Staff packets prior to events and for onsite staff
    • Assist in preparing event documentation including timelines, staffing plans, rental orders
  • Onsite Event Management
    • Coordinate with Service and Culinary teams to ensure event quality
    • Communicate with client and act on feedback quickly and graciously
    • Manage timeline and communication with other vendors
    • Lead “Line Up” meeting with onsite events team

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in a management, coordination, or production position preferred
  • Ability to project manage
  • Experience with event sales/production/planning
  • Can balance administrative tasks and onsite logistics
  • Genuine passion for hospitality

Expectations

  • Three days of in-office Administrative work per week
  • Onsite work as needed
  • Work week schedule
  • Availability for event schedule, including weekends and holidays as required by the event calendar
    • Peak seasons between April-June and September-December

Compensation and benefits

  • 401K
  • PTO offered after one year in position/with the company
  • Yearly performance bonus
  • Event Production/Administrative Duties: 3 days a week, $30-35/hour (dependent on experience)
  • Onsite Event Management Duties: Onsite hourly at $50-60/hour event management rate (event timing commitments range from 6 hours to 12 hours)
    • Path to salaried position
